The 12th Semi-Annual Logo Party champions have been crowned! Red Lobsters: Seed #4 from Period 1, Team 4 + 2: Seed #2 from Period 2, & I'm Hungry: Seed #6 from Period 3. Each team had to play at least three other teams to become the champion of their period. They Described it! Drew it! Did it! Reveal it! in order to get their team members to guess a variety of company names and products. Congrats to the newest champions!

Westview GD Students Win PQ Banner Contest!

Last month Westview and Mt. Carmel Graphic Design students entered a contest to design the next light post banners to be placed all around Rancho Penasquitos. Two banner designs by Westview students were chosen by the PQ Town Council! The fireworks banner was designed by Mason Bartelt, a Graphic Design 1-2 student. The hot air balloon banner was designed by Huy Vu, a Graphic Design 3-4 student. Their picture and banner design will also be featured in the December 2018 issue of 92129 Magazine and they will also be honored with a check at an upcoming town council meeting. Congrats!

Another set of champions have been crowned! Team 5: Seed #1 from Period 1, Adam S.U.X.: Seed #2 from Period 3, & Asian Invasion: Seed #7 from Period 4. Each team had to play at least three other teams to become the champion of their period. They Described it! Drew it! Did it! Reveal it! in order to get their team members to guess a variety of company names and products. Congrats to the newest champions!

Westview's Graphic Design Studio (GDS) presented the 2nd Annual Student & Staff Foosball Tournament! We are looking for 24 potential student teams to represent their club, organization, or sport and 12 staff teams in this year's foosball tournament. Sign up by Wednesday, April 4th in A107.

Another set of champions have been crowned! Ric Flair Drip: Seed #1 from Period 1, ABG's: Seed #2 from Period 3, & Team 3: Seed #5 from Period 4. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Seed #2 from Period 2, is the first ever two time tournament champion! Each team had to play at least three other teams to become the champion of their period. They Described it! Drew it! Did it! Reveal it! in order to get their team members to guess a variety of company names and products. Congrats to the newest champions!

Westview Graphic Design Students Win PQ Art Contest!

April 2017

Artwork done by Graphic Design 1-2 students, Anastasia Schas & Cyndi Wu, won this year's PQ Fiesta art contest! The contest was given as an assignment to all Graphic Design 1-2 students and twelve groups decided to actually submit their artwork to the contest. Look out for Anastasia & Cyndi's artwork at the 22nd Annual Fiesta de Los Penasquitos on Sunday, May 7th!

Westview's Graphic Design Studio (GDS) presented the 1st Annual Student & Staff Foosball Tournament! The tournament featured 19 student teams and 5 staff teams. Congratulations KASA (Matthew Wang & Eric Wang) for winning this year's tournament!

With the help of Petra Ives, one of the new advisors, Mr. Nacu was able to gather five new Graphic Design advisors for the program's annual advisory meeting. All the advisors have a unique and influential background within the Graphic Design industry, providing valuable feedback to help improve and validate our Graphic Design program at Westview. We are fortunate that all the advisors are current Board Members for AIGA San Diego. Mr. Nacu hopes to make arrangements for each advisor to visit the Graphic Design program at Westview sometime this school year!

Visiting Artist: Zard Apuya

Vinyl figure artist, Zard Apuya, presented to Westview's Graphic Design 3-4 students today! Zard gave students a look into how he started, techniques, and what inspires him to continue making art. Students also had a chance to meet with Zard in small groups to get tips & tricks on their 3rd Q final design era vinyl figure. Zard plans on speaking to 2nd year students each year and hopefully attend the end of the year Graphic Design Showcase to see how the student's vinyl figures turn out!

GD 3-4 Present to FS Investors & Landon Donovan

Westview's Graphic Design 3-4 students presented their ideas for an Major League Soccer team in San Diego to a distinguished panel. Panelist included soccer great Landon Donovan, reps from FS Investors, CTE, American Outlaws, Westview Boys Soccer, Westview Administration, & two PUSD Board Members. Working in groups of four, students presented a PowerPoint showcasing an original team name, logo, uniforms, website, and supporter gear. All the panelist were impressed with how professional every group presented their ideas. All the panelist gave feedback, highlighted by Landon Donovan's comments and questions for each group. FS Investors said they will definetly keep in touch and look forward to potentially working with the students if an MLS team comes San Diego. Awesome job everyone!
